Asset-based community development in Melbourne’s west
What?
From 2016 to 2018, HealthWest worked with community leaders, volunteers and graduates from governance programs working together to improve connections and capability, creating a “strategy” for “meaningful” community connection. HealthWest’s Community Leadership in the West project became connectwest, an independent not-for-profit organisation.

Where is it at?
Community Leadership in the West “connectwest” (2016-2018).
HealthWest concluded work on this project at the end of 2018, with the launch of the connectwest website. connectwest is now a separate independent group.
Who?
connectwest adds value to existing community leadership programs and explores sustainability in the
Community stakeholders include:
connectwest recognises all leaders; including those that have and haven’t gone through formal leadership training (such as governance or champion programs or volunteer or people a part of a community group).
Key service or organisational stakeholders include:
Community health services, local governments and other agencies, in Melbourne’s West, that have a priority in social engagement and community leadership.
