Health Promotion Practitioners Network (HPPN)

 

Overview

The Health Promotion Practitioners Network (previously the North and West Health Promotion Community of Practice) is an initiative by the four Primary Care Partnerships in the North West Metropolitan Region (Inner North West PCP, HealthWest Partnership, Hume Whittlesea PCP and North East PCP) to support professional development among health promotion professionals early in their career.

Upcoming Professional Development Event: Self-Promotion

Learn how to present yourself as a health promotion professional. This event will focus on how to use LinkedIn to network and promote yourself. 

Join us this November for a unique community of practice that will be on “How to Promote Yourself?” as a health promotion practitioner. Specifically, how to network and market yourself on LinkedIn. We will have a marketing specialist guest speaker to talk about do’s and don’ts and a professional photographer to take that perfect profile picture of you for free!

Guest Speaker: Jenny Bui

Jenny is the current HR Manager for CHASE- a NFP working to improve health literacy in Melbourne’s public schools. During her time at CHASE, Jenny has focussed on building strategic industry partnerships to expand CHASE’s recruitment reach. She sits on the committee for ConnectWest, an initiative to support commercialisation and demographic growth in Melbourne’s western suburbs through unified leadership. Jenny works with LeadOn Again to consult on leadership and development programs for high achieving young girls facing disadvantaged. Jenny is the recipient of the 2017 Melton Council Youth Awards in the category of Leadership.

Jenny is a psychology honours candidate at ACU completing a thesis on the psychometric properties of the AQoL-8D, a health economic instrument. Jenny works at ACU Law & Business Faculty as a research assistant in the emerging field of the future of work for Sustainable HR. Jenny’s long-term goal is to become a registered Industrial-Organisational Psychologist. Jenny has applied herself to gain relevant industry experience whilst balancing full- time studies. She was a HR intern at Australian National Line and Brand Strategist intern at Cognicity PTY. In addition, Jenny has worked for Reach Services Group, a consulting service, specialising in Sales and Marketing strategies and a Market Researcher for Roy Morgan.

Who

The Health Promotion Community of Practice is a group of people who share an interest in improving the capacity of early health promotion professionals in their field.

Who Can Attend?

Anyone can attend a Health Promotion Community of Practice event in Melbourne’s north and west, including:

  • Managers, clinicians, health promotion and diversity staff from health and community organisations
  • Academics, researchers and representatives from peak bodies
  • Consumers actively involved with health and community organisations in the west

Why Come Along?

  • Share learnings, experiences, and problem solve challenges
  • Share resources and examples of good practice
  • Keep up to date with current literature and research in health promotion
  • Network with others interested in health promotion
